We endeavour to offer the highest level of support to our members through our wide range of membership services and our personal support to them as individuals.
Campaigning
As a constituent member of British Music Rights, BASCA makes sure the voice of the creator is heard in the corridors of power. Members of BASCA's Board also serve at the highest level with the leading organisations in the copyright community, including the PRS, MCPS, British Copyright Council, Creator’s Rights Alliance and the Music Business Forum. Whether on questions of copyright protection in the digital age, issues facing the subsidised music sector or legislation affecting broadcasting, the Academy speaks up for Britain’s songwriters and composers.
Recognition
BASCA presents the internationally revered Ivor Novello Awards, which recognise the best songwriting and composing talent in the world. Past winners read like a Who’s Who of music, from Hal David to Craig David, Sir Malcolm Arnold to David Arnold.
The Gold Badge Awards allow writers to honour friends and colleagues who have achieved excellence in their fields within the music business in support of composers and songwriters.
The British Composer Awards were launched in 2003 and celebrate the best in UK contemporary classical composition.
