The Business of Music Publishing
20 August 2012
The Music Publishers Association (MPA) has produced a series of short films entitled The Business of Music Publishing to explain the vital (yet often misunderstood) role that music publishing plays in today’s music industry eco-system.
The series of films form together an introductory guide to music publishing - the business of creating, protecting and promoting songs and musical compositions.
The films look at the following topics:
- The Publisher / Songwriter Relationship
- History of Music Publishing
- Types of Publishing Companies
- Revenue Streams
- The Future of the Business
They feature contributions from leading figures in the industry (Stephen Navin, Chris Butler, Nigel Elderton and others), along with songwriters and composers including Portico Quartet, Jake Gosling (Ed Sheeran's co-writer) and Kerry Andrew.
Visit the MPA website to see these important (and enlightening!) films.
