Muso
12 October 2012
The Professional Members’ Social was held on Wednesday 10th October 2012, at the PRS Boardroom from 6-8pm. It was a great success, with over 40 of our Professional members turning out for the event. Chairman of BASCA, Sarah Rodgers welcomed members alongside David Stoll, Chairman of the Classical and Jazz Executive Committee.
One of the main purposes for this event was to introduce Andy Chatterley and Chris Anderson to BASCA. They were there to talk about their company Muso.com. Muso seeks out links to illegal files from over 150 million web pages each day and displays them in a user-friendly dashboard. Muso.com remove the illegal files either by issuing a DMCA takedown notice or removing directly where muso.com have special access granted to a site database. They have specially offered BASCA members discounted rates on this service and hope it could benefit as many songwriters and musicians as possible. The presentation was very well received, with many members eager to ask questions at the end of the session.
The Powerpoint presentation and fact sheet that Andy and Chris used are now available for members to access from this link here.....MUSO. It includes many important facts about music piracy and how Muso are designed to combat it.
