Adam James Wakeling
Adam James Wakeling
Adam has been playing the guitar since his early teens and has since gone on to write and record not only blues and rock music, but also classical.
He has been in several rock bands, all of which have given him experience but went nowhere. Adam decided that he would go solo and continue with writing his own rock instrumentals.
Adam is a member of the Performing Rights Society (PRS), the Musicians Union (MU) and the British Academy of Composers and Songwriters (BAC&S).
In 2004 he produced an album, with the intention of selling to a niche audience, of medieval inspired contemporary music. And later in 2005, he produced a rock instrumental album. Both of these have not yet been prepared for sale.
With his love of rock music plainly evident in his earlier works, he has only recently branched out to classical music (although he has always had a love for this also).
He has experimented with combining rock music with classical. One particular piece that comes to mind is Handel's Sarabande - from harpsichord, Suite no.11.
Adam had entered a composing competition for Classic FM's 'Smooth Classics'. He submitted two works, the first is entitled The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse and the second is entitled Ballo Mascherato. These works can be listened to on his myspace profile.
He has a diploma in Media Composition.
He wrote the score for an Amateur Dramatics Society production entitled King Arthur, in 2007.
Adam has branched out into relaxation/meditation music as well - he has released a CD/download entitled The Sacred Garden which is a guided meditation.
In 2009, he created his own record label 'Destrier Music' and now releases his works through it.
He released his unique version of Handel's Sarabande (from harpsicord suite no.11) as a single in early 2009. This was followed by his third relaxation CD entitled 'The Enchanted Wood' which he himself actually spoke the words of the meditation.
In early 2010 he released his latest work 'Wrath of the Titans' which is a rock/classical instrumental album. This has since received good reviews.
He currently plays fortnightly in a local Cambridge folk group entitled 'Greenshoots' which is a major inspiration when it comes to new ideas and future compositions.
