Biography
Chris Birdsall is a singer/songwriter from the North West of England, United Kingdom.
He has been writing songs for over ten years and has a large collection of works that have varied in style over the years.
He began songwriting at the age of fourteen after school within the Poynton High School music department, performing not only in school projects but with his band "Whistler". This band went on to become "The Swirl" and had a brief spell of gigs in Manchester and the North West.
At the age of twenty, Chris joined a three piece band who in 2005 went on to sign a recording contract and publishing deal with Windswept Pacific (now known as Bug EMI) and the band performed gigs in Los Angeles and had many showcases events.
In 2009 Chris left the band and has decided to follow his own solo projects with the prospect of collaborating on albums in the future with fellow BASCA members.
His debut solo album entitled Under the tree is a collection of works that were recorded all completely by the artist himself, taking influences from the likes of Neil Young and John Martin.
His new album entitled Joker in a Dream was released on iTunes and Amazon in May 2010 and can be viewed via his official website at www.singingtree.co.uk
Chris attended his first Ivor Novello awards in 2010 and he hopes to attend many more events with BASCA and PRS in his music career.
